I finally made the trip—and it’s kind of silly considering I’m only about 3.5 hours away. After 20 years, I returned to the place where I spent most of my winters, and I had an absolute blast. It was just a day trip, but I’ll definitely be back.
A few notes:
I didn’t spend much time in the full dunes. The group I was with was moving much faster, and I didn’t want to slow anyone down. I also haven’t really run the BRaptor in the dunes before, so I’m still building confidence there.
I aired down to 25 psi based on my last trip, which was more high-speed, Baja-style running. Lesson learned—15 psi is the way to go.
For those familiar with Glamis, I hit Comp Hill by the freeway first and managed all the lines, though the steeper side took a few attempts. I eventually made my way to Oldsmobile Hill but didn’t reach the top. I’m blaming tire pressure… even though a Lexus SUV was climbing just fine with significantly less horsepower than me.
Anyway, if you get the chance to go, do it! You won't regret it.
