In September of 2020, Ford Authority reported on some exclusive details pertaining to what is now known as the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor. Then, in May of 2021, Ford Authority exclusively reported that the forthcoming ultra-high performance off-road version of the Ford Bronco would launch bearing a name other than Bronco Warthog, which is what most expected it to be called at that time. Ford Authority spies also captured what appeared to be a Bronco Raptor hybrid out testing, and now, we have more exclusive details to share regarding the lighting details on the forthcoming off-roader.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor will further differentiate itself from other Bronco models with some additional lighting elements, starting with three separate lights that are contained within one enclosure out back, each of which is connected by a single strip of lighting. These rear lights could potentially serve double duty as center high-mounted stop lamps (CHMSL) and marker lights.

Additionally, the Bronco Raptor’s side mirror lighting might be used as turn signals or supplemental clearance lights, which will likely be activated when the low beams are turned on. The front and rear of the Ford Bronco Raptor will essentially share the same aesthetic in regards to the three-light setup, with clearance lights being placed above the “Ford” lettering in the front grille, along with three additional lights out back.

Last month, Ford Authority spies spotted a lightly camouflaged Bronco Raptor prototype driving around, giving us our best look yet at the forthcoming model. The Raptor rides quite a bit higher and is significantly wider than any other Bronco, including Sasquatch-equipped models, and features high-clearance running boards and massive fender flares that help cover up equally large 37×12.50R17LT BFGoodrich KO2 tires wrapped around beadlock-capable wheels.

Underneath, the Bronco Raptor is fitted with a host of suspension upgrades including Fox shocks, a Raptor branded rear differential cover, a reinforced steering rack, and beefy lower control arms. As Ford Authority exclusively reported, the Bronco Raptor will be powered by Ford’s 3.0L EcoBoost V6, currently found in the Ford Explorer ST and Lincoln Aviator. The Bronco Raptor also features a true dual exhaust setup with a tucked-under, dual-tip outlet on the driver’s side. A 10-speed automatic will be offered, while Ford’s 7-speed manual is under consideration.

As Ford Authority reported back in October, the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor will be fully unveiled during the first quarter of 2022 ahead of its launch, which is currently planned for next summer along with the new Bronco Everglades.
