Ride Height Calibration Issues

Yesterday we attempted to recalibrate a buddy's ride height with Forscan after installing Eibach springs and got the C1124 VDM code. We can't clear it and all the drive modes are disabled. I see a bunch of folks have encountered the same thing, but I'm having a hard time finding a clear explanation on how to clear the code and recalibrate. Our next step is to take it to the dealer to see if they can override it, but I'd also love to understand what caused this and how to fix it in case it doesn' t work. Anyone have any thoughts?
