Has anyone had an issue with dust (and or water) in the turbos and their cooler?
I has happened to me -twice. The first time they were replaced by Guarantee. On the second time, it all started with the "Power Train Failure" on the App. I took it to the Dealership and was told that Ford Plant wont back the Warranty. It wants me to pay $7 grand even though my Raptor still has a valid Factory (not extended) Guarantee.
My Raptor has only 13,000 miles. I beleive it has a design problem on the air intake. I believe that installing a snorkel is a must. Any ideas on a asthetic snorkel? I like the factory standard on the Everglades but its a 4 cil and doesn´t fit.

Hmmmm. Is your motor all stock. No add-ons?

All stock.

All stock.
Interesting. Im wondering why it is not covered under warranty. If you have no aftermarket parts or tunes on the motor for them to give an excuse not to cover it. I have not heard of this motor being a problem with dirt getting into the turbos. Where are you located? Curious.

This is an odd situation for a vehicle that is purpose-built for sustained high-speed running in dirt/sand/dust environments. I have not encountered any similar situation with mine with almost 30K despite multiple visits to Moab in talcum powder like dirt and various water crossings and the open deserts of California. Good luck on working through the answers and solutions.

I´m located in central Mexico.
Keep an eye on your air filter and check that the container is clean you all. Better yet, install a snorkel.

What specific reason did Ford give for not addressing the problem under warranty?

That the problem (dust inside both turbos and its cooler) "wasn´t assignable to the COMPONENTS" —Can you believe that? So I replied: So, are you assuming that I threw dust into the air intake with my own hands while driving? Unbelievable!

My suggestion to EVERYONE: open the air filter box to check if there is too much dust laying and change the filter OFTEN.

This leads me to a pet peeve. A Ford service checklist indicates that they “check” the air filter at each routine service. They do not open the air filter box and inspect the filter, they check the mileage and if your close or over 30k they replace the filter.

Anyone assuming Ford is actually checking your filter and air box are going to disappointed. I let Ford do the routine, but I clean my aftermarket filter after desert runs and midsummer activities. It Hoovers up a fair amount of dust.

OP may want to spray out the alternator if your in a lot of water/mud/dust. I have a 2022 as well and lost my alternator in Moab from some cumulative combination of the above. Ford improved the alternator shielding in some point in 2022 and this shouldn’t be an issue for most.

What aftermarket filter do you use?

UGH! Just lost my alternator Saturday pre running in the desert for a future event. I haven't yet heard how the alternator failed, but I will ask after they fix it. I only have 6K on the clock, too. Dust, really???

Keep us posted.

This is crazy, makes no sense at all. What exactly are the codes you are getting and what exactly are the failed components being replaced??
