Good morning, all. I’ve had this issue, since new, of a thump or clunk when I come to a stop and the rig sits back on its haunches, and also when taking off from a complete stop. It’s subtle, but shouldn’t be. I had done some research and most of what I found pointed to the 2 piece drive shaft. Local dealer just told me there’s a TSB on it. Has anyone had this issue and, if so, how was it solved? Seems a drive shaft is on order for me. Would appreciate any info. Thanks!

Glad to hear there is a TSB on this so dealers should have a clue about the fix.

I think the slip joint style and non-serviceability make the current setup suboptimal. I am no expert but, haven’t had this issue in over 2 decades with Jeeps.

So…when I picked it up yesterday, I was told drive shaft on order, but there is NOT a TSB. That was told to me in error. 🙄

I'm talking with my service group soon about the same issue. I've had the issue for a little over a year, but it's gotten worse in the last 2 months. Same symptoms, and I was assuming that was the issue so I'll have my techs check it out. Thanks for the update.

So get this- the driveshaft took until the end of January to arrive. Crazy. Long story short, it didn’t fix the problem. I’m at a loss. Anyone have any ideas??? I’ve been reading a PCM reset might solve it. Gonna do that now. 🙄

Mine does the same thing.

Apparently, it doesn’t hurt anything. But, I’m not wholly convinced. Found some more info. Pulling the shaft and lubricating the spline with teflon grease seems to “fix” the problem? Anyone have any experience with this “fix”???

Can you video it and can we hear it? Would love to see this if possible. I’ve got a hard 31k on mine and zero of this type of issue….

I also haven't noticed any unusual noises when stopping or accelerating on paved roads. Tonight I tried in a quiet paved parking lot and still unable to duplicate any unusual noises.

It’s not a sound that can be heard. It’s a feeling, like a bowling ball hitting in the cargo area with zero sound. My wife and I feel it. It’s pretty noticeable, but zero sound in the cab. So I won’t be able to audio record it in the cab.
