Hi Everyone,

This seems different from limp mode. I have had this happen three or four times now. While on a trip and driving for many hours in the day all of a sudden the wrench lights up on the dash and the power is greatly reduced. Once you stop and restart it goes away.

As well, one time the orange engine light came on with the wrench and of course power was reduced. When the engine was turned off and on the wrench was gone and the power was normal. The orange engine light did not go off until the vehicle over night shut down. The next day is was gone.

I am fairly sure I have heard a few talk about this before. It seems fairly common.

Anyone have any experience with this? Appreciated.

I had this issue before as well, the exhaust positioning valve needed recalibrated. It will cause the turbos to go full waste, not allowing boost at all. Look at your boost guage when this happens.

Since the CEL Illuminated, there will be a a code stored and you can chase done the issue. I am sure you have a reader but if not, the Ford app will display the error under the “Alert History” button as well. Good luck! 👍🏼

That is great thanks. Appreciated

Never even thought to look. Yes in Alert History "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power. Got this three times and the last was "Service Engine Soon". I will have to get it checked out.

Thanks!

I have been told it is a Waste Gate issue.

This is an internet summary:

A waste gate, often referred to as a wastegate, is a critical component in the turbocharging system of the Ford Bronco Raptor. Its primary function is to regulate boost pressure by allowing excess exhaust gases to bypass the turbocharger turbine when the desired pressure level is reached. This helps prevent overboost, ensuring smooth and controlled power delivery while protecting the turbocharger from excessive stress and potential damage. Wastegates are essential for maintaining turbocharger efficiency and optimizing engine performance under various driving conditions.

There is a bulletin that the Waste Gate may need tightening giving the issue described in this thread. The technician was able to turn the screw a a couple of times on the waste gate and that just may be the isse. Of course he took it out and it did not have the issue. The issue is so intermittent the chances of him having it are next to none.

Let's hope this is the issue and I won't have the power down and wrench or service engine light come on again.

It would be a nice easy fix and still under powertrain warranty

Here is the bulletin and fix. It seems it may have done the job. We will see. Also had a new rearview camera installed as per a recall.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Loose nut - yeah, I have one of those behind the wheel! LOL 😂

Glad it was an easy fix!
