Curious if there are "common" leak issues with the 3.0L motors. I noticed a change in smell on my motor the other day so I popped the hood to check for any visible leaks. Can't find a thing, everything is tight and a-ok, no drips or runs around the filter housing, oil fill cap, etc... It's just a faint whiff and doesn't smell like burning oil so I've ruled out the CHRA feed lines at the turbo end of things. And I don't think it's from anywhere near the front of the motor as I don't smell it when I'm at the front of the car. It's faint but there's definitely a change/increase in smell or I've developed a brain tumor and the olfactory ability of a bloodhound.
I haven't pulled the under tray yet, and that may be my next step. Nothing on the garage floor. I don't seem to be losing any oil at other than a normal rate of consumption. Not super worried about it just wasn't sure if the 3.0's suffered from some sort of small leak issue like from say the rear main seal. Mostly a curiosity thing so I can keep an eye on it.
