So we all know Ford nailed the Braptor in every dept, except the fenders :)

I decided this morning to remove the 4 mudflaps that extend the overall look/size of the fenders to see if they would improve the aesthetics.

Here are some before/after pics for everyone to form their own opinion, but I personally think it looks great w/o them!

I’m planning to upgrade to a 37x13.50 or a 38x13.50 in the coming weeks, so this also removes some trim that might rub when off road, as I’m trying to do so with the stock suspension and wheels.

Thanks for checking out!

Yeah, I removed mine pretty quickly after purchase. I like the look much better without.

Thanks TCopp, I decided to remove the front trim on the front bumper corners too. Looks way better and can really show off the FOX setup better. The bolts for the crash bars, that these of course don’t have, were noticeable with the trim removed, so took those off as well. Def like the new look!

Looking good!

I’ve been putting off pulling the mud flaps until till the weather improved. That excuse is done. Coming off tomorrow!

Already pulled off the entire bumper end cap assembly. Lights were underwhelming, air dam was odd, approach angle is better and it shows off the suspension, which is really the heart of a Raptor.

JohnGalt, thanks and yes, def worth it

Can you please share a pic? Def curious to see how that looks…thanks

Like the look, but definitely make sure your are full ppf down the sides if you pull the front mud flaps off.
Full ppf already. Mud flaps are a liability in deep snow. Popped a couple of the retention clips already.
I’ll remove them tomorrow before the trail eventually does.

I’ve got PPF and still got some ~1 inch dents on the doors from rocks kicked up going fast on dirt roads. The PPF just stopped the paint from scratching which was good.

A tip for taking off the stock flaps: 0 of the screws came out of my rear fender without stripping which was annoying. They wouldn’t unscrew, but would just spin in the holes. You can just flex the rubber flaps around the clips and pull them off. Or just yank the clips out with enough strength.

Hey Lawn Dart, sorry I should have mentioned in post to only use a handheld screwdriver and not a drill as they will strip easy.

I also used a trim removal kit that was $10 at O Riley’s (see pic) and that helped a lot. Those plastic clips do suck, and if you just rip them off, they are cheap to replace if you ever wanted to reinstall.

The rear flaps also have 1x 7mm bolt that was easy to remove.

Thanks and good luck to anyone else who decides to delete these.

I used that same exact trim tool 😂 also used a handheld screwdriver (extremely lightly). I think my rear trim screws were just put on wayyy to tight. I had no problems at all on the front ones, most of them came out fine. But the rears I had to pry out all of them. But like you said, not a big deal since they are cheap anyway

regular ppf or the xpel ultimate plus 10mm thick?

Ultimate Plus 7. I was going to go with 10 but the Xpel dealer actually talked me out of it and recommended 7. Maybe the 10 would work better!

curious why he talked you out of the 10? i have 7 on my hood, panel above
front bumper, inner door sills and inside rear tailgate, but im thinking of going 10 on the doors and rocker panel when i put new fenders on

He has worked with xpel for a long time and said the 7mm was reliable and sticks well. He doesn’t trust the 10mm and called it an “experiment” by Xpel moreso than a lasting product. I have absolutely no idea how valid his assessment is, but he did a damn good job wrapping the Bronco. I’m considering just getting the doors done in 10 but leaving everything else after seeing Just how much crap gets thrown at the doors

Uhhh

I’m fine with the look. The biggest issue I have with that and even my other Raptors is ever since Ford opened up the runningboards it allows rocks, mud, road crap to come up and hit the side of the rig.
I have a good friend that does paint protection film, but it’s still is problematic at best.

I’ll give up their aesthetic to have the protection.
