The local Ford dealer drove over this morning to do both the fender and wiring harness recall at my house. I spoke to the tech (nice kid) and on the fasteners, he's just inspecting the fenders and fasteners, not replacing this go around.
Apparently ALL the fasteners are getting replaced regardless, and some BRaptors are even having the fenders replaced which was news to me. Apparently they don't have any of the fasteners in stock either and they're back-ordered from Ford. Found that kind of interesting. I was under the assumption it was a case of missing or a few bad fasteners. My fenders don't have any gaps and are on there securely as far as I can tell. They don't budge an inch. Still, how long does it take to manufacture a bunch of plastic pins? It's alarming to say the least and likely a good "canary in the coal mine" when it comes to manufacturing in the U.S.
Rumor has it the next Bronco Raptor will have the fender removal issue solved, as in you'll be able to remove them easily. We shall see.
On a side note, my original warranty expires in December. I'm currently top off all the time (until it rains) but will be giving my entire top a good once over in both visible and invisible wave lengths and a magnifier to make sure there are no cracks developing.
