I live in SW VA, a couple dealers priced me at $180 for install and $850 for the Procal. I thought install price was not terrible, but I bought my Procal on sale for less than $700 online. The dealer I intended to have do it, said he wouldn’t because I didn’t buy it from Him…
I ended up installing myself. There are a lot of videos online to walk you thru it and it was an easy process.
In regards to the warranty, both dealers I spoke to had the same insight. The warranty which requires the ASE certified tech is the Ford Performance Parts warranty on the installed part- not the vehicle warranty. They both said the factory warranties wouldn’t change unless the programmer caused an obvious failure- and they talked about most common Eco-boost failures being well documented and not tied to tuners.
I could see the biggest concern being if there was a hiccup during install and it locked your computer. It is a risk-albeit a low one.
I love the added seat of the pants feel with the Procal. Good luck.
