Is anyone else interested in the soon-to-be-released Toyota Land Cruiser? I think it could be a good daily driver or additional vehicle option that still has some off-road chops if you find yourself in bad weather or off the pavement on a family road trip.

Five new teaser images were released and the official release is set for August 1st!

Someone help me out. Is the new Land Cruiser based on the same platform as the Lexus LX and the new GX is based on the new Tacoma (and assumed new 4Runner) platform?

I just ask as the teasers of the new Land Cruiser seem to take a lot of the boxy styling from the recently announced GX as if it's what the LX should have looked like. Although I'm pretty sure the LC is supposed to be a size larger than the GX/4Runner. Will find out more next week I guess.

Other than being a car-guy, I don't really care. Not buying any of them.

It's sounding like the new Land Cruiser is going to be based on the new Lexus GX 550 platform that was recently announced. Below is a photo of the new Lexus GX 550 Overtail. The 4Runner should slot in under this new platform and should be a bit smaller.
