Programming replacement key fob

Has anyone programmed a replacement fob? I see this procedure on a lot of ford dealers web page but have never tried it.

I did many years ago on a GM truck with a aftermarket fob, but that was only a lock/unlock and emergency horn. The aftermarket fob came with directions and I remember it was pretty simple.
