As I pulled into my garage and put it in park, I received a notice that Ford was going to try and update my PCM between 1am and 3am between tonight and Thursday. Got the usual notice of car will be unavailable, etc...

I can't remember the exact phrasing but it's a "diagnostics" update to make sure the engine performance is within their specifications. The exact phrasing gave me pause. The way it was cautiously worded, and reading between the lines, it sounded like they're going to load up a calibration that might lessen the performance of the vehicle. I should have taken a photo..

I'm a bit paranoid as my last car, they did a voluntary recall which loaded up a new emissions calibration which lowered the hp, decreased drivability AND locked the ECU from being tuned. As I was already tuned (with my own tune no less) I wasn't going for it. But many of my clients did and they unknowingly locked their ECU's (engine control unit, same as a PCM but no transmission controls). It obviously pissed a lot of people off.

I might be a bit paranoid but I almost feel like running into the garage tonight and cancelling the update. Car runs great, no complaints. Then again, maybe it's an improved shifting algorithm. Anyone else get the notice and dive into it a bit deeper?

Standing by to see if you notice any difference.

Will be headed out here shortly and will report back. It did give me a three day spread so it may not have updated overnight.

I didn't notice a performance loss while driving this morning but temps here have recently dropped in the a.m. so it's much cooler than it has been in some time.

With that said, it looks like the dash display choices might have been updated? It seems I can pick more views in "my view" than I could previously and it looks like there's a new screen called "measurements". I swear it wasn't there before but I could be wrong. If you have the main screen up in measurements, clicking ok will scroll to a second set of measurements including intake and charge temps as well as air/fuel. It'd be nice to have A/F, boost, charge and intake temps on the same screen.

I know it updated as my view had reset along with a few other screens.

I also noticed my gas gauge is much more optimistic. Generally, with the gas tank full, it'll read about 285 miles to empty. It was reading 324 miles with the tank registering about 1/5 lower than full. I'm sure there are some other changes made that I haven't noticed yet. I'll try to drive home in sport mode this evening when the temps are back up into the 90's.

I have a road trip tomorrow, about 180 miles there and back, so anxious to see what my mileage readings are.

Thanks for this, Ape Factory.
I just filled up yesterday and drove 3 miles home. On 93 octane after the 1st dealership tank and still on break-in with 416 miles on the odo...shows my full tank will get me 242 miles. My driving has been conservative, about 1/4 around town and 3/4 highway with accident & construction delays :ROFLMAO: I really don't sweat MPG but those are my 392 Rubicon numbers...must be the 37's vs the 35's :ROFLMAO:
I'll take a look at my screens and see if "Measurements" is there. I have automatic updates turned off so there shouldn't be anything new since I picked up the rig in Mid August.

On the drive home, I tried to get on it a bit and got it into sport mode once the engine/tranny were up to temp. I swear downshifts are smoother than they had been and not by just a little. My normal response to complaints about downshifting in sport is "you're not braking hard enough." Try it. Pretend you're the last of the late brakers in sport mode while the transmission slices through the gears. You won't feel the downshifts which is how it should be when. being used correctly. I do readily admit having a sport mode without the downshifts would be ideal day in and day out as the Braptor isn't a GT3.

Now if you coast and let it downshift (prior to the update), yep, it's gnarly. I didn't have an opportunity to coast with no throttle but I did try to brake gently from speed so I could feel any changes and it was far better. Will continue to evaluate to make sure it wasn't some anomaly or a placebo.

Power felt good too...I have this one little uphill stretch to third gear before I have to slam on the brakes and it's a good test for how things are working and you can feel the torque doing its job. Felt solid, can't say it was necessarily any faster but it definitely pulled decently.

Your gauges look correct, the measurements have always been there, which is my default R mode gauges, I also view the Air inlet and charge temps often.

There may have very well been an update that you noticed today, glad you like the subtle tweeks.

I swear I never saw that choice in MyView prior to everything resetting. I need to spend more time fiddling.

Sounds like I may need to get my FORscan ready to go. 🤦‍♂️

With the PCM tune, all the long and short term fuel trims are probably zero'd out so any performance gains may be due to that. Had a long commute today but really just tried to see what sort of mileage I'd get since this is going to be a regular thing. Ended up at 16.2mpg over 180 miles round trip. As such, I didn't get on it much. There's always tomorrow.
