This second Ford Bronco Raptor team – which will join Shelby Hall and her navigator, Rori Lewis, in the same vehicle – will feature the pairing of Laura Wanlass and Penny Dale, who will be competing in the 4×4 Class this time around. Dale has plenty of experience in that format after having served as Hall’s navigator and claiming an X-Cross victory in the Bronco Sport in 2020, followed by a 4×4 Class win behind the wheel of a Ford Bronco the very next year.
The eight-day, 1,500-mile 2024 Rebelle Rally – which Ford began partnering with last year – is set to kick off on Wednesday, October 9th and end on Saturday, October 19th, spanning portions of the Nevada and California desert. Participants aren’t just tasked with beating each other via pure speed, however, as there’s a lot of brainwork involved – in fact, racers can’t use GPS or cell phones to find their way across the desert, and must instead rely on maps, compasses, and road books only.
Ford’s group of teams has a solid reputation to uphold given its success over the past few years, which resulted in a third X-Cross victory in 2022 and a fourth in 2023. Hall secured only a sixth-place finish in 2022 behind the wheel of a Bronco Wildtrak, however, but improved last year in the No. 150 Desert Roots Bronco Raptor, in which Hall and Lewis both finished inside the top-five, along with Wanlass and Maria Guitar, who piloted another Bronco Raptor.
