Just got my 2022 Bronco Raptor and the first offroad session I did, we hit 2 feet of water and right after my electrical systems failure light came on. Alternator stopped working and drained my battery after an hour. After doing some digging around the internet, I realized that it is a common issue. I was able to get this covered by warranty under TSB 23-2238. They replaced the Alternator, Belt, New Upgraded Shield. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this TSB performed and if the new Upgraded Shield works better? Or is this 100 thousand dollar truck useless in 2 feet of mud water

My ‘22 alternator gave up the ghost in Moab at about 18 months. It was completely dry conditions, but I’d been through a fair amount of water in the months prior. They replaced everything under the TSB. Haven’t had a problem since. I wheel a lot, hit some water from time to time, but not usually really muddy situations.

The bigger issue I’ve had is getting stones up somewhere in the rotating area of my front brakes. Get to listen to some serious squealing from 5 to 15 minutes. Usually happens in stream crossings and deep sand.

Interesting! We shall see how the new alternator with the new improved shield handles now. I also get a lot of squealing on the brakes :(

I have had the rock/pebble between the rotor & brake shield a few times while wheeling. I pulled the bottom of the shield farther away from the rotor and it has helped SIGNIFICANTLY! YMMV

I previously owned a 21 Badlands with the 2.7l, which the Water/alternator was an issue. I now own a 2024 Braptor and have been wondering if this is an issue for the newer models? You mentioned you have a 22.
I did go through some deeper water without issue the last time I off-roaded. Not trying to hijack the thread, just curious - glad you got yours fixed! Thanks.

My understanding is that the alternators were corrected by mid 22. Mine was built in August. I’m sure yours is fine.

From my memory I believe we can go to about 37" of water. Just to the top of the tires.

I believe 37" as posted above. I would like to hear otherwise if I am not correct. It is good to know.

If only the top of the OEM tires are 37” (especially aired down for off-road fun) 🤪

But seriously, I believe 37 (or 36 same difference) is correct.

Top of the tires..got it. Great reference point. Thanks for the feedback everyone. Going off-roading next week and it’s supposed to be rainy/muddy. Should be fun!

Copied from the 2022.5 Bronco Owners Manual, yep 37" is correct.
Ya... who needs an owners manual when we have this forum and its members! Good job team! :giggle:
