I came up with this idea when I bought my Bronco Raptor almost a year ago and after the first couple of desert runs, I noticed the rear shock reservoirs were getting sand blasted and there is no protection for the trailing arm ride height sensor arm or module. I came up with this mid-flap protection idea I have seen get popular on other desert trucks and applied it to my Bronco. I am using UHMW plastic for the flap and stainless hardware for mounting. The best part are both mid flaps mount using the existing oem holes in the body mounts, so no fab work or holes being drilled. Literally a 5 minute install for both flaps. Once mounted, you forget they are even there. Right now I am hand making and testing them myself. I have test flaps on another local Bronco owner, as well. We have been testing them for almost a year. They are doing a great job protecting the rear trailing arm height sensor arm, module and the rear resi's on the shocks. They definitely work. Even if you don't off road, they will still protect from any road debris you might kick up on the highway. I am gauging interest here with this post to see if I may start making them to sell. My goal is to keep both sets under $100 and also have replacement flaps available, cheap. I called them Brap Flaps from the beginning and it just stuck. Let me know your thoughts or questions. Thank you.

Looks good, how does it hold up?

So far, it has been great. I was using polymer at first and they did well, but they started to "form" backwards a bit due to the air/wind when driving, over time. Went with UHMW next and doing awesome due to it being stiffer, but still flexible. Same stuff KOH vehicles and SXS's use for their skid plates to make them smoother over boulders. This was just an idea I had a while ago and said what the heck, maybe make some for us who go off road. A simple idea that works and doesn't cost much. I have seen companies just starting to make protection now, out of formed aluminum and it is great, but costs a lot. They also don't cover all 3 problems at once, either. If people decide they may want it, I will get approval here to market them first. I do not like social media, so I have not posted it there. But, unfortunately, it's where all the eyes are, so maybe...............Just a retired dude making something. Not a business.:)

Thanks for the update, glad to hear its working well, let me know if they ever come up for sale or marketing.

Will do!

Just did another 130 miles or so on a Mojave dirt run. From rocky sections, gravel, sand dunes, regular dirt roads and high speeds, the Brap flaps didn't disappoint. I am currently figuring out a way to finalize the current prototype and hopefully get them made. I may start with just a a set of (5) and then go from there depending.

I think you have a great idea. I’ve run a mid flap on my F-150 Raptors (Gen 2 &3’s). I’ve been looking for a good way to install mid flaps in our Bronco Raptor.
Mid flaps definitely help.
I’d take a set.
Thanks

I have been looking for something like this since I picked up my Bronco! I am in the Vegas are as well. If I could purchase a set and give them a test, count me in!

I am in !

I saw these kinds of flaps at Hammers and the Mint. I’ll take a set. DM where i should point the Venmo/Zelle.

Cool. I’ll put ya on the list. Looking to roll these mid flaps out in April. I’ll post up when available. Thank you!

Update. I have the first batch almost ready, just waiting on some hardware to make it complete. I may start a small website to keep it all legit. My goal is to have them ready be the end of next week. I should have 25 sets, plus hardware to start. I have a list started for the those that already emailed me. If anyone else wants to get in on the first batch, please email me. I am trying to keep these at around $100. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thank you.

Hello everyone.
Back home from Baja .
We were lucky enough to test one of Lou’s prototype Brap Flaps on our new 26 Bronco Raptor. I was excited to see him bring this to market as l’ve used mid flaps on our F-150 Raptor and they greatly reduce damage underneath.

The Brap Flaps work! It is by far the simplest mod one can do to protect your Fox shocks and suspension sensors on the Bronco Raptor.
Since installing, we drove over 3300 miles, with over 1600 miles in Baja mostly off-road in all kinds of conditions and terrain including lots of high speed time. The mid flaps kept the flying rocks, sand, mud, and other debris from chipping away at the shocks and suspension components.

There was another low mileage Bronco Raptor on the trip that got a lot of little chips and mud all over his rear components. The other higher mileage Bronco Raptors in the group showed a fair amount of off roading wear n tear.

I definitely would like a 2nd set for our Alaska Bronco Raptor soon as the production ones are ready.

We had an exhilarating Baja trip with no damage to any suspension components. Still looks new.
Cheers
