Dealer gave me an alleged allocation

I was reaching out to a bunch of dealers regarding getting a 2023 or 2024 bronco allocation as I wanted to build one myself. Found a dealer offering me an allocation saying “ they got word from the rep they are receiving an allocation within a month or so and I could have it” they asked for a refundable deposit which I provided. My question is; what is the news on this does it sound accurate? Are dealers still getting and selling allocations to be built and within a month or 2 time frame?

I think the answer is likely that they already had an allocation but didnt have an idea when it would be build. Most of those numbers just went out to dealers recently and dealers got their rough build numbers to expect.

So you could have just been talking to the right people at the right time.
