What did you do to your Bronco Raptor today?

Just recently got back from an almost 2000 mile trip. Drove down to Gulf Shores from KC and back, through the winding roads of Arkansas. Driving this thing is a breeze, but in the pitch black twisties at two in the morning, it’ll wake you up. I don’t mind tossing this thing around, but when the whole family is in the car trying to sleep, it was kind of difficult to keep this thing smooth around the corners. Haha.

Averaged about 320 miles per tank due to all highway. I’m back home now, it’s already down to 273 again. Had lots of people come up to me at gas stations and on the ferry in Alabama. Had a Wildtrack owner actually behind me on the ferry, which was pretty wild. Another one of those “wow, these look much better in person” people.

The interior was a disaster after the road trip, MGV made cleaning a breeze. All the spills and food cleaned up easily.

I do think I’m going to order those parts to reduce wind noise that was posted in the Bronco6G forum (and here). Cruising at 76 for so long, it was hard to hear the kids unless they raised their voices pretty high. I usually drive by myself with my radio up, so I never notice.

Sounds like you had a great trip. Thanks for posting the results. Looking forward to the Tennessee Super Celebration next month.

I’m with @fuhrius that no jacking situation is safe. Once I replace my body sliders with frame mounted, I’ll probably add a hi lift jack, but will still carry my factory scissors and bottle jack. They all have their pros and cons, but having all three or wheeling with someone who has jack(s) you don‘t increases your chance of not sleeping in your truck and going home with all the body parts you came with.

I like the bottle jack for the potential to take wheel droop off the table, by lifting the axle. The lower the lift usually translates into a safer lift If you have stable spot to jack off of.

Hi lift jacks have to lift the vehicle until the droop stops and the wheel finally comes off the ground (the Raptor rear axle fixes baby!). The vehicle is up high, the jack wants to lean if you’re on uneven surfaces or a hill and it’s not easy to find a safe jacking point without frame mounted rails. All that said, sometimes it’s the best safest option.

Last night we got it done with the scissor jack (with the extension installed) on top of traction boards (a thick chunk of solid wood would have worked too). We couldn’t get a safe hi -lift jacking point and my bottle check didn’t have enough stroke (something to consider).

hope my blathering is somewhat helpful to your thinking 🤪
I have several PowerBuilt 3 ton Bottle jacks that have built in jack stands. They are fairly heavy and a nice base. If you don't have enough lift from one you can always throw blocks under the other and go from there.

I hate Hi lift jacks. Had to many pop out when working on farm equipment. They give me the heebie-jeebies. Always used blocks(logs) and jack stands.

My husband laughs at me when I start blocking, but he didn't see my dad almost die when a jack blew out when I was a little kid. Thankfully it was only a T-Bird and he had bone like an old Charolais bull and we were able to get it back up fast.

I grabbed some impromptu dash cam videos when we hit some dirt roads on Sunday and I put them together in a video. It was fun playing around with my R settings and the different GOAT modes for the first time. Baja Mode in 2wd with traction control off was definitely the most fun of the settings. 4A was just too much traction.

Nice trip, was the exhaust in Baja mode?

Yes, Baja exhaust is the way to go! I especially love the downshift blips.

In a classic 'videos don't do it justice'....here's a guy who drove his homemade car to 7th (was it 7th? something like that) at Pike's Peak out for a hoon...so you know he's laying it down despite not seeming all that wild in the video. Thanks for sharing. Despite all the rock clawing and jumping videos out there, I think this might be the kind of driving that brings out the real goodness in the Brap. It's, at least, the kind of driving that makes me happiest.

While it doesn't totally resonate for me when people say stuff like 'it's like driving a rally car' (because most of those people have never driven a rally car...and 'rally car' isn't one thing...there are so many different types / personalities) or RCWALP (Race Car With A License Plate)...there are cars that have a certain set of personality traits...or, as Matt Farah, calls it...'special'...or 'motorsports-feel'...in my very brief time with the Brap so far, I do believe it warrants some of those comments.

I realized that that I'm sitting here writing this in a classic Blipshift long-sleeve tee with a MK2 Escort sideways across the front. Possibly only eclipsed by my Blipshift shirt with all 6 marks (Escort MK1, MK2, and MK3...and Focus RS MK's 1, 2, and 3) across the front...or the 'Rally drivers do it sideways' shirt...harkening back to such classics as 'real men can do it in the back of a Z' shirts.

Dirt roads with sight lines...hallowed ground indeed.

"Rally drivers do it sideways" LOL love it! I need to get one of those shirts! Dash cams never really do it justice, but it's always fun to try and make it look extreme haha!

Jacked up the Bronco Raptor and placed on jackstands to remove the tires and wheels. Not replacing them yet, but future details to come.

Maybe you could put the tv on the hood of your raptor while it’s sitting up on jacks. Bluetooth the sound through your sound system. Then you’ll really get the feeling of being there wailed watching from the drivers seat

Thanks! Luckily, I threw my GoPro 10 Black on the dash just before I left for the trip. I didn't think I would stumble onto such great dirt roads along the way. I uploaded the video in 1080p and now I wished I would have done it in 4k. The Bluebonnets and wildflowers are beautiful if you can catch them in the video.

Thank you! My best laugh of the day! Spring finally getting close and I'm getting anxious, it'll be like getting a second delivery! Trying to wrap up the BR projects, as all my summer toys will soon be coming out of hibernation and with our short Michigan summers it'll be 2 months of boating playtime.
I so wish we didn't have all the road salt, I would love to play in the snow as you have been enjoying the last couple months. I really enjoy the snow photo's and video's as it reminds me of the many years I snowmobiled in upper Michigan.
